Full SEO
Summer Cart has many powerful SEO tools built into the software. Please try to follow all the steps below so that you can take full advantage of the SEO tools and get your store completely optimized for search engines.
Step 1:Enable Search-Engine-Friendly URLs
Search-engine-friendly URLs is an automatic feature built into Summer Cart. You activate it through Settings menu, SEO page. Once enabled, this feature automatically turns every product and category page into static-looking HTML. It shows the name of a category and a product directly in the URL. See example below. With this feature turned on, search engines will easily and completely index your product catalog.
Example:
Category page will look like:
http://www.YourStore.com/widescreen-tvs.html
Product page will look like:
http://www.YourStore.com/product/samsung-hl-t5087s-50-new-slim-depth-led-engine-widescreen-dlp-hdtv.html
Step 2: Add website Meta Tags
Search engines read Meta Tags before the other content on your website. Meta Tags may not get you to top positions in search engine results, but they frequently turn up as a description of your site. You add website Meta Tags through Settings menu >>> SEO. Keep in mind that a good meta description is not comprised of long strings of keywords. A good meta description tells the reader what your store is about, or what they can do in your store. Read more in 'SEO page' topic.
Important: |
Please note that when viewing products, categories, dynamic pages or rich text pages their meta keywords and meta descriptions are appended to the website meta tags. |

Step 3: Add Meta Tags to your products and categories
You can add two Meta Tags (keywords and description) to a product using SEO tab on 'Edit product' page. The product name is also displayed in the page title.
And also you can add two Meta Tags (keywords and description) to a category using 'Edit category' page. To draw your attention on the importance of Meta Tags, we named them SEO Keywords and SEO description. The category name is displayed the page title.
Remember that a good meta description tells the reader what that page is about, or what they can do on that page.
Example:
Widescreen TVs’ meta description could be
“Shop for cheap widescreen TVs. Find the best widescreen TV among Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sharp and JVC.”
Step 4: Add Meta Tags to pages in your website
You have two Meta Tags (keywords and description) in every page within the website. To add Meta Tags go to Website Content menu, select a page from Rich Text pages or Dynamic pages and use 'Edit page' link.
Rich Text pages include pages like About us, Privacy Policy, FAQ, Terms and Conditions, Product Replacement and any custom page created by you.
Dynamic pages include Home, Search, Categories, Product Details, Forms, Manufacturers, View Cart, Login, Registration, Forgotten Password, Customer Profile, Orders and Order Details - all database-driven pages.
To draw your attention on the importance of Meta Tags, we named them SEO Keywords and SEO description.
Tip: |
Make sure you write a different meta description for every page on your web site. If you have too many pages to work on, prioritize which ones are important to customers and get a meta description only for them rather than copy one and the same description for all pages. |
